  we live a few blocks from jp's and have eaten there many times. We are very excited about the restoration of the hotel and about having a nice place to have a drink, however when it comes to the food and service we've been continually disappointed. It always seems to take the kitchen half an hour to push out an entree. Whether the restaurant is full or empty, you can't expect to get your meal in a timely way. Secondly, the quality of the food is poor. One could hardly expect that a restaurant billing its burgers as the best in town (on a billboard) would use frozen patties, but that's just the beginning. A great deal of the menu is straight out of the freezer--even the vegetable sides: Soggy and limp carrots, broccoli and peas. Cooking from frozen might be more excusable if the food were being delivered in a timely way. This kitchen either needs to learn to handle some knives and cook, or at least get some speed. The service at jp's is always a little awkward. You get the impression that most of the servers haven't done this before and don't know how to act. Most are well intentioned and are trying, but need some training.
  They seem to have hired a new manager. I hope she can help. I'll revise this review every quarter to try to give them a fair shake.
